8 April 2011
Large amounts of unlicensed medications have been seized by Department of Health officials during a search of a home in Glengormley.
A guy was interviewed by department officers about unlawfully importing and consequently providing unlicensed impotence medicines via the internet.
The 47-year-old was likewise questioned about other medicine offences.
He will now be the subject of a report to the Public Prosecution Service.
The search was carried out by the department’s Medicines Regulatory Group.
Its workplace, Peter Moore, stated: “It is vital that we get the message throughout that unlicensed medications can be harmful.
“These kinds of items being sold, generally online, have gone through no quality control and there can be no assurance about their security.
“You simply do not understand what you are taking or the conditions these items were made in. More significantly, you do not know the result drugs like this may have on your health.”
