Large quantities of unlicensed medications have been taken by Department of Health officials during a search of a house in Glengormley.

A man was spoken with by department officers about unlawfully importing and subsequently providing unlicensed impotence medications by means of the internet.

The 47-year-old was also questioned about other medicine offences.

He will now be the topic of a report to the general public Prosecution Service.

The search was brought out by the department’s Medicines Regulatory Group.

Its workplace, Peter Moore, stated: “It is essential that we get the message throughout that unlicensed medicines can be dangerous.

“These kinds of products being sold, usually online, have gone through no quality assurance and there can be no guarantee about their safety.

“You simply do not know what you are taking or the conditions these items were made in. More importantly, you do not know the effect drugs like this might have on your health.”
